Chalice Joy Chism
18 10 2006Joli tapped me on the shoulder at 1:00 a.m. on October 17, 2006 and said, “David, my water broke.” It took less than 20 minutes to get ready and drive to the UCSD hospital. At 2:18 a.m., Joli gave birth to our beautiful baby girl: Chalice Joy Chism. Chalice was 6 lbs. 13 oz and 20 1/2 inches long. She is just a doll!
Chalice had a small breathing problem shortly after birth, so the hospital staff stepped in and took her down to ICU. It was there that she was treated and monitored for the next 12 hours. We got to see her throughout the day as she continued to improve. We are thankful to report that she is back with us and doing great! The UCSD staff is very cautious, so we probably will not be leaving the hospital until Thursday night. If you want to send an email or leave a note on our website, I will make sure Joli gets the message. I am writing from our hospital room. If I wasn’t such a spacy dad right now, I would have remembered my digital camera cable so I can upload pictures at the hospital. You will all have to wait another day to see our cute new arrival.
Chalice Joy means, “A Cup of Joy.” Our heads have been annointed with the Joy of the Lord and our cup has surely been running over with great blessings as we give thanks to our Gracious Lord God Almighty for blessing us above and beyong what we can every ask or hope!
